Title: Direct Detection Experiments of Dark Matter (WIMP) and Related Physics

Speaker: Miuchi Kentaro

Date: 9月 1, 2026

Location: 2-10-04

The objective of this course is to acquire fundamental knowledge and techniques related to particle physics and cosmic-ray experiments, using cosmic dark matter—believed to constitute approximately one quarter of the total energy content of the Universe and to exist in an amount more than five times that of known matter—as a central theme.
Through the course, students will gain an understanding of how physics learned at the introductory university level is applied in actual research, develop a basic understanding of the design and operation of particle detectors, and cultivate the ability to perform quantitative estimates for concrete direct dark matter search experiments.

This course will be held from September 1st to 3rd.
